The Amateur Athletic Union Football division (AAU Football) has teamed with the American Sport Education Program (ASEP) to offer online training opportunities through ASEP's Coaching Youth Football online course.
"We're very proud to endorse the American Sport Education Program's Coaching Youth Football online course and book," states AAU Football's Pam Marshall. "AAU Football feels very strongly about coaching education, and we're excited to provide ASEP's quality program to AAU Football member organizations. With the price barrier reduced, our goal is that every coach will participate in the course."
"Progressive sports organizations are demonstrating their commitment to providing superior sports programs for their athletes by educating their coaches," says Rainer Martens, founder of ASEP and president of Human Kinetics. "AAU Football not only demonstrates this commitment, but takes it a step further by providing the course to many of its coaches at no cost. We're honored to work with AAU Football to jointly provide this training opportunity."
The course draws content from the book, Coaching Youth Football, Fourth Edition, written by ASEP in conjunction with Tom Bass, former National Football League coach and USA Football technical advisor. Coach Bass is an advocate of youth and served as content expert for the online course.
By delivering the book's content electronically, ASEP has eliminated administrators' need to purchase and carry inventory.
Whether a coach is new to coaching football, or just wants to improve on last year, this brand-new Coaching Youth Football online course provides a game plan for coaching success. The course kicks off by examining some basic coaching principles designed to improve skills in the areas of practice and game-day planning; communication with players, officials, and parents; safety and first aid; and player training to promote lifelong fitness.
In the second half of the course, coaches learn the basic techniques and tactics of football - what they are and how to teach them effectively. In an interactive environment, coaches see proper ways to perform various offensive and defensive skills and how they're employed in various tactics of the game.
