Welcome Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) coaches and administrators!

The American Sport Education Program (ASEP) is proud to be an approved provider of coaching education to the AIA.

AIA coaching education requirements state that all head and assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, hired on or after April 1, 2009, must have a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate or Arizona Coaching Certificate, or they must complete an approved coaching education program within 45 days from the date of hire.

As an approved provider, ASEP courses are accepted by the AIA as meeting coaching education requirements. ASEP courses approved by AIA are below:

• Coaching Principles or Coaching Orientation (either course is accepted);
• Sport First Aid; and
• The advanced sport-specific course for the sport coached.

Coaches must complete all three courses to meet the certification requirements. To order online courses individually, or for detailed information on course content, click on the corresponding online course icons in the table at the bottom of this page.

Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid are also offered as classroom courses led by certified ASEP instructors. Being a certified instructor gives you the opportunity to teach the courses to your coaches in a face-to-face format, providing interaction that online courses cannot replicate. ASEP is looking for high school athletic directors in Arizona to become ASEP instructors.
