Welcome California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) coaches and athletic directors!
The American Sport Education Program (ASEP) is proud of our long-time affiliation with the CIF, and we look forward to training new CIF coaches in the 2009-10 school year and beyond. With the requirement that all interscholastic coaches in California be trained by December 31, 2008, and all new coaches be trained prior to their sports season, ASEP is poised to assist the CIF in reaching this commendable goal. We congratulate the state of California on taking a strong stance for coaching education.
ASEP courses that meet the California requirements include the following:
From this page, you can order any one of the above online courses individually by clicking on the corresponding icons in the table at the bottom of the page.

If you prefer to take Coaching Principles or Sport First Aid as a classroom course, you need to register for the class through an ASEP certified instructor in your area. It's likely your athletic director is an ASEP certified instructor or there's a trained instructor in your school district. Contact the CIF state office (see contact information below) for a schedule of upcoming clinics in your area. These clinics are taught through a network of more than 600 ASEP certified instructors in California. If you enroll in a classroom course, you will receive the course materials from your instructor on site the day of the clinic. You cannot register for a classroom course through the ASEP Web site; all registrations for classroom courses are through the instructor.
CPR/AED for Coaches
ASEP is offering a new course, CPR/AED for Coaches, a blended course of both online and classroom instruction demonstrating proper CPR and AED technique. This course is offered bundled with the Sport First Aid course or as a stand-alone course.
Coaching [Sport] Technical and Tactical Skills online courses
Although not required by the state of California, ASEP sport-specific courses provide new and experienced coaches with the Xs and Os of their respective sports. These engaging courses blend reading, audio, video, and animation into an online learning experience like no other. To purchase these courses, click on the corresponding icons in the table at the bottom of the page.
Thank you for choosing ASEP as your coaching education provider!

CPR/AED for Coaches (part A)Designed as a blended course, CPR/AED for Coaches contains two parts: online instruction (part A) followed by an in-person hands-on clinic (part B). If your goal is to earn CPR/AED certification, enroll in a part B clinic first, then return to this page to enroll in part A. Separate registration and payment is required for part B through an ASHI-certified instructor. Contact ASEP for a schedule of part B clinics in your area. You must complete part A before attending part B. Price for part A is $22.00. Instructor sets price for part B. Please note that both parts A and B must be completed in order for you to be CPR and AED certified. If you're not interested in the certification, you can take part A without attending a part B clinic, but completion of part A alone does not constitute course completion or certification. |
