Illinois Elementary School Association

Welcome IESA coaches!

The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) has partnered with ASEP to offer IESA member schools and their coaches the IESA Coaching Education Program.

Approved by IESA, the IESA Coaching Essentials online course is designed specifically for coaches working with elementary, middle, and junior high school athletes.

Delivered conveniently online for just $19.95, the curriculum offers a solid foundation in coaching responsibilities, communication, safety, fitness, teaching and shaping skills, coaching on competition day, and season and practice planning, as well as IESA-specific policies and points of emphasis. The average user will take about three hours to complete the course.

If you are an IESA coach looking to purchase the online course for yourself, just click here or on the icon in the table below.

If you are an athletic director or principal who would like to order IESA Coaching Essentials online courses in bulk to distribute to your coaches, contact ASEP at 800-747-5698 or ASEP@hkusa.com. If ordering by phone, select number one "to order ASEP products" from the audio menu to place your order with an ASEP customer service representative. (We cannot take bulk orders of online courses through the Web site.)

IESA also accepts the IHSA Coaching Education Program to meet the IESA coaching requirement. For more information on the IHSA requirements, click here.

Faculty-coaches can also benefit from IESA Coaching Essentials. In addition to the general coaching principles, sport first aid, technical and tactical skills training, and IESA-specific knowledge they glean from the course, participants receive 3 continuing professional development units (CPDU) for taking the course. The educator just needs to submit documentation of course completion (printable from the Illinois State Board of Education Web site) through the Illinois Educator Certification System (ECS). Those who elect to take the IHSA Coaching Principles course receive 40 CPDUs for course completion. Click here for a complete listing of ASEP online courses and their respective clock hours. You owe it to your faculty-coaches to let them know about this convenient professional development opportunity!
