Welcome New Mexico coaches!

The New Mexico Athletic Association (NMAA) recognizes and uses the Human Kinetics Coach Education classroom and online courses Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid for meeting the association's coaching education requirements for a Level 3 NM PED Athletic Coaching License.

The newly updated fourth edition of Coaching Principles and fifth edition of Sport First Aid are now available in your choice of two formats: with print book or with e-book (you save $10 by purchasing the e-book version).

If you prefer to take the classroom versions of Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid, contact the NMAA for a schedule of clinics in your area or search the Classroom Course Finder.

Coaching Principles

This online self-paced course includes the printed text Successful Coaching, Fourth Edition. Geared toward high school and club-level coaches (those who coach athletes age 14 and older), the 20-unit online course challenges coaches to define their coaching philosophy, objectives, and style; enhance communication and motivational skills; become more effective teachers; and improve team, relationship, risk, and self-management skills. Coaching Principles covers the fundamentals of being a successful coach—on and off the field.
