With this version of the course, you receive the most recent version of the NIRSA Officiating Flag Football Rules Book and Officials' Manual in PDF.

The NIRSA Officiating Flag Football online course with rules book includes units on understanding the basic rules of flag football, performing officiating mechanics and signaling and enforcing penalties, and working in two-, three-, and four-person crews. From this course, you’ll also learn your officiating responsibilities, including pre-game and game-time procedures and enforcement of safety and equipment rules. Perhaps more important, the course goes beyond the hows of officiating to the whys by exploring such topics as developing an officiating philosophy, improving communication and decision-making skills, and managing conflict. It’s how well you perform in these areas that most often determines how well you do as an official and whether you stick with it.

Developed by Human Kinetics, Inc., in cooperation with NIRSA, the course is delivered entirely online, complete with the most recent edition of the NIRSA Flag & Touch Football Rules Book and Officials’ Manual, video clips from the NIRSA Officiating Flag Football DVD, and excerpts from the Successful Sports Officiating text delivered in PDF format that you can download and print. The course also features video vignettes, Flash activities, interactive exercises and quizzes, various pre- and post-game forms and checklists, and links to other web-based officiating resources, creating an engaging interactive online learning experience. At the end of the course, you will take the NIRSA Level 1 exam to complete the training. The course should take roughly six to eight hours to complete.
