Whether you’re in a two- or three-person crew, your positioning is determined by imagining a line that splits the court in half, from end line to end line. In a two-person system, each official stays in one of the halves. In a three-person system, the lead and trail usually stay in one half while the center stays in the other.

Demonstrate your understanding of this concept by considering some throw-in scenarios. The activities on the next pages will show the two-official system, but many of the issues of positioning also apply in a three-official system.
