Here are some prerequisites to good officiating. Remember, no one said it would be easy to be an official!

• Keep in shape.
• Make calls positively and with good timing.
• Know the rules.
• Know the mechanics.
• Ignore the fans.
• Don't draw undue attention to yourself.
• Be courteous to players and coaches, but don't fraternize with them.
• Hustle and be alert.
• Call them as you see them.
• Be loyal to your crew members.
• Maintain rapport with and respect for other crew members.
• Don't infringe on the duties of other crew members.
