Cap:
If you wear one, the cap should be solid black.
Whistles:
Carry two whistles, keeping a spare in case your primary whistle malfunctions.
Stopwatch:
Wear a watch on your wrist or carry one in your pocket.
Other essentials:
Carry a yellow card and a red card to caution or eject players when necessary. You should also have a flipping coin, pencil and scorecard with you on the field. You can carry these things in your pocket.
Shirt:
Wear a soccer shirt approved by your state association. The shirt shouldn't be the same color as the jerseys of either team, so you'll need to change to a different shirt color if there's a color conflict.
Black shorts or long trousers:
Try to avoid a combination of shorts and pants among the officiating crew. If one official is wearing shorts, the others should wear shorts as well.
Shoes and socks:
Wear predominantly black shoes and black stockings with white stripes.
