USA Rugby and its Coach Development Program (CDP) have partnered with leading coaching education provider American Sport Education Program (ASEP) to offer online continuing education opportunities for coaches.

Through the agreement, the USA Rugby CDP offers several ASEP online courses for coaches who wish to gain additional knowledge and who wish to extend the life of their current USA Rugby coaching certification. The online course offerings include ASEP Coaching Principles, Coaching Orientation, Sport First Aid, Officiating Principles, and Directing Youth Sports Programs.

"We are excited about our partnership with ASEP," says Norm Mottram, USA Rugby director of coach development. "We believe that ASEP products fill an important need for USA Rugby coaches. ASEP's distance learning online delivery model will really help coaches remain certified without necessarily having to attend face-to-face workshops," Mottram states.

"I am excited about forging a partnership with USA Rugby that will use our coaching education courses to deliver continuing education to rugby coaches across America," says Jim Schmutz, ASEP executive director. "Most importantly, these courses will enhance the ability of coaches to provide the highest quality experience for their teams, consistent with the mission-focused efforts of USA Rugby," states Schmutz.

USA Rugby has 75,000 members and nearly 1,600 registered clubs throughout the country. Those with questions about the program may visit the Partner Organizations/USA Rugby section of the ASEP Web site.
